King: We Need To Stay Strong

Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010

City midfielder Andy King cut a frustrated figure in the aftermath of Leicester's 2-1 home defeat to Reading on Saturday, a result that left Paulo Sousa's side with just one point from their opening four league games.

King had to be content with a cameo appearance off the bench, before seeing a late goal chalked off for a debatable foul by Matty Fryatt.

Leicester were unlucky to emerge from the game with nothing, but the Welsh international is convinced things will change for the better.

"We have to move on from this, pick ourselves up and look ahead to the next game and get three points.

We deserved more from the game, look at the chances we had, shots cleared off the line again."

It is the second time in as many home games that King has had a goal disallowed when it looked legitimate, whilst the game changing goal by Ross Wallace against Burnley came courtesy of a huge deflection.

Fortune is not favouring the Foxes, but King says City must dig deep as they attempt to climb up the Championship table

"It's just not breaking for us at the moment but we just have to keep strong as a group and try to battle through it."

"When you are down at the bottom, the luck doesn't fall for you and you could see on the day that everyone is trying their best like we always do. You need a bit of luck and on the day we haven't had that."

"That is the story of the season so far for us but we just have to pick ourselves up and I am sure we will do that."

City have made their worst start to a league campaign in sixteen years, but Leicester have recovered well from poor runs of form in the last couple of seasons and King is confident they can do so again.

"We are disappointed with the results we have had so far, there is no beating around the bush about that, but we are strong and we know we can win games.

We showed that last season and no-one is panicking at the moment. We just have to keep together, keep plugging away and I am sure the wins will come."
