City's Reserves side went down 1-0 to West Ham at Belvoir Drive today, but deserved more from this friendly encounter.
The Hammers took the lead inside the opening seconds through Frank Nouble but, thereafter, the home side were well on top yet unable to find an equaliser.
City dominated possession and chances, being foiled by the woodwork and some outstanding goalkeeping, which meant the equaliser they deserved never came.
Coach, Chris Powell, said: "After the first few seconds when they scored I thought we were great. We played some good football and anyone who saw the way we created chances would have said we should never have lost."
It was a good workout, not just for the younger prospects, but also for Tom Kennedy and Frank Moussa.
Powell added: "West Ham brought up a very experienced side which made it a good exercise for everyone."
