City have the opportunity this weekend to make survival mathematically certain, but Rob Kelly is only looking as far as the job in hand.
Kelly is well aware of the threat posed by Iain Dowie's Eagles though he's not about to sit back and accept anything but three points from the game.
And the City manager is clear that nothing has been decided yet as to whether he'll still be in the hot-seat at the Walkers Stadium next season, and as such he's only concerning himself with preparing his side for a challenging encounter on Friday evening.
Kelly said: "I've got to deal in reality, and the reality is that I'm in charge for the Palace game so that's the one I concentrate on.
"I've obviously got things in my mind about what I might like to shape in the summer, but I always bring myself back to what I really can deal with and that's the next game.
"It'll be a good test for us.
"Palace are going well at the moment. They're a good side with a very good manager.
"It wouldn't surprise me at if they were back playing in the Premiership next season.
"I think it took them a while to grow back into the league, to remember what this league was about. I think they would probably admit to that.
"I've said all along, there's a lot of twists and turns in this league. There's been some strange results, often the table is turned on its head. I hope it is on Friday night."
Palace will be boosted by the news that top scorer Andy Johnson looks to be fit to start for the visitors, but Kelly says that his Foxes have nothing to fear and will relish the prospect of containing a player of that calibre.
He added: "He a good player, but he can only affect us for 90 minutes.
"I'm confident in our defenders. They've been playing well and they'll look forward to the challenge.
"He's an England international so it's a really good marker for whoever plays at the back for us.
"But we've got some pretty potent weapons up-front ourselves. So we'll concetrate on how we can hurt them as well.
"Those three points are as precious to us, for our own reasons, as they are to Crystal Palace.
"We'll do everything we can to put on a performance and get a result."
