Leicester City rounded off their League One championship winning campaign in style when they registered a 3-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road on Saturday afternoon.

Bruno Berner, Lloyd Dyer and Matty Fryatt grabbed the goals on the day - with the result condemning the Railwaymen to League Two.

Nigel Pearson made three changes to his starting line up - with Wayne Brown, Joe Mattock and Berner coming in for Max Gradel Marc Edworthy and Chris Powell.

The first effort on goal came in the sixth minute of the contest. Brown was adjudged to have handled, but Billy Jones' 30-yard free kick was easily gathered by Dave Stockdale.

Michael Morrison, who bagged two goals in City's draw with Scunthorpe a week earlier, let rip from fully 35 yards on 10 minutes, but Collis was able to palm the ball to safety.

Marlon Broomes had an excellent chance to give the home side the lead a minute later, but his half volley was blocked by Leicester skipper Matt Oakley.

Fryatt saw his effort blocked on 13 minutes, with Howard unable to guide the rebound through the regrouped Crewe defence.

Fryatt had Collis stretching again with 16 minutes on the clock, and again the home 'keeper was able to parry the ball away from danger.

Andy King pulled the ball back from the byline to Steve Howard on 36 minutes, but the big striker was unable to find the target with his shot on the turn.

Howard hit a thunderbolt drive six minutes later, but the ball fell just wide of Collis' right-hand upright.

Howard had the first opportunity of the second period, but Collis did well to keep hold of his angled drive.

John Brayford came close to giving the Alex the lead eight minutes into the second period, but his deflected effort thumped the City crossbar.

Bruno Berner gave the Foxes the lead in the 56th minute of the contest - the Swiss international giving Collis no chance when he smashed the ball home from fully 25-yards out.

Pearson made his first change of the game on 57 minutes - Gradel replacing Mattock.

Fryatt almost double the advantage five minutes later, but his curling shot fell just wide of the upright.

Dyer grabbed his 11th goal of the season on 65 minutes - prodding the ball home after his initial effort from the edge of the Crewe penalty area had been blocked.

And top-scorer Fryatt extended the advantage further three minutes later - finishing neatly on the angle.

Gradel flashed a free-kick over the bar from 30-yards with 10 minutes remaining, before Fryatt hit a spectacular effort straight at Collis.

The result means that the Foxes finish the campaign with a massive 96-points to their name - collecting a record-breaking 14 victories on their travels
