A goal in each half by Matty Fryatt ensured Leicester City's perfect record at the Walkers Stadium remained intact against Ian Holloway's previously unbeaten Blackpool this afternoon.
The striker opened the scoring in the 24th minute and after City had been pegged back by an equaliser before the break, he struck in the 57th minute to restore the lead the home side held right to the end.
City looked the brighter side right from the off and Lloyd Dyer sent Matty Fryatt through the middle for a chance but the Blackpool keeper raced off his line to save in the nick of time. Next, Dany N'Guessan twisted and turned to make space for a 20-yarder saved then from a cross from the left was headed in by Steve Howard, saved again.
The visitors then hit back with a good move and a Brett Ormerod shot was well blocked on the edge of the area to show City were not having everything their own way. That was underlined when a shot from Keith Southern came back off the right-hand post and Chris Weale then made a great save from Jason Euell's follow-up.
But City had the clear edge and in the 24th minute they deservedly went ahead. Howard was fouled in deep midfield, Richie Wellens sent a quick free-kick through the Blackpool defence for Fryatt to go clear and beat the keeper with a clinical finish.
But the lead only lasted six minutes as, after a slick move, Wayne Brown's interception of a through pass went into the path of Charlie Adam who notched the equaliser with ease.
It was a blow for City but Fryatt nearly replied instantly with a swerving shot well saved, a Bruno Berner cross was headed just wide by N'Guessan and a brilliant free-kick from Matt Oakley from 25 yards came back off the right-hand post.
City almost restored their lead in the first minute of the second half when Wellens burst into the right of the area and his cross only just eluded the front men in the middle then a shot from Oakley sailed just wide after a free-kick had not been properly cleared.
The visitors replied when a Jason Euell close range header went wide when he should have scored but in the 57th minute, City were back in front, a mis-cued defensive deflection falling right into the path of Fryatt who made no mistake in accepting the gift.
City had re-established their grip and, after a fine move involving N'Guessan and Fryatt, Howard turned his shot a fraction over.
There was one late scare for City when a Ben Burgess shot was deflected inches wide but in the end, the home side played out the game to secure their third successive home League win.
