Two stoppage time strikes dealt a cruel blow to Leicester City as they crashed out of the FA Cup 4-2 at Cardiff City.
The Foxes' had gone behind through Jay Bothroyd but two goals in five minutes from Michael Morrison and Dany N'Guessan saw them ahead by the break.
A goal from Peter Whittingham with around 20 minutes left saw the Bluebirds draw level and into stoppage time a replay loomed large but goals from Chris Burke and Ross McCormack semt the host through to the Fifth Round.
City boss Nigel Pearson made three changes from the side that lost to Swansea, Richie Wellens returning for Andy King, Dany N'Guessan in for Lloyd Dyer, and Martryn Waghorn in for Matty Fryatt.
The home side threatened first with a through ball towards Michael Chopra but Chris Weale was quick off his line to gather the ball. City then countered, a cross from the right being headed back across by N'Guessan to Waghorn who volleyed over.
Ryan McGivern's cross was then won by Kermorgant but there were no takers for his knock-down.
In the 16th minute, the Bluebirds went ahead, a cross from the right by Chopra being headed home by his strike partner Jay Bothroyd.
City responded well to the setback, Wellens sending N'Guessan through but the attracker was crowded out. Moments later, Paul Gallagher turned a cross back for Kermorgant who sent the ball over.
Then two goals in five minutes turned the game. First a Gallagher free kick was headed home by Michael Morrison in the 34th minute and five minutes later it got even better for the visitors as N'Guessan, under pressure from a chasing defender, managed to squeeze the ball past the advancing David Marshall.
City were rampant now and a great run by Wellens was halted by a trip but no foul was given andthen in first-half stoppage time, N'Guessan came close with a 20 yarder flying just wide of the right hand post.
The visitors started the second half well, Waghorn as an Oakley shot was smothered as City threatened again.
Cardiff then came back into the game and a great clearance from Hobbs was needed from a McCormack free kick. Weale then denied Chopra as the home side pressed forward.
In the 71st minute, a free kick from Whittingham on the right deceived the City defence, floating straight in for a freak equaliser.
City could have restored their lead soon after if a trip on N'Guessan in the area had brought a penalty butthe claims were waved away and in the closing stages of normal time, City almost edged it again when a great header from Kermorgant was blocked, as was Morrison's follow-up.
Matty Fryatt, on for Waghorn, miscued a shot on the turn from close range and when the action entered added time, the replay looked the fair result.
Amazingly the Bluebirds hit two goals in a minute, substitute Chris Burke netting after a deflected shot had fallen to him and then McCormack ended it all with a clincher moments later.
