Michael Morrison was Nigel Pearson's first signing as Leicester City manager, asthe young defender was plucked from non league side Cambridge United for an undisclosed fee.

Morrison made his debut for the Cambridge reserve side aged just 15, a club record and went on to make over 100 appearances for the United first team.

Morrison made his City debut in Leicester's first game in League One, a 2-0 win over the MK Dons in August 2008, the defender went on to make 40 appearances as the Foxes romped to promotion.

City's promotion party against Scunthorpe United, coincided with one of Morrison's most memorable days in a Foxes' shirt. The defender scored a brace in a 2-2 draw before Leicester were presented with the League One trophy.

During the 2009/10 campaign, Morrison alternated between playing at right back and centre back, and Foxes' coach Chris Powell was "very impressed with the way he has adapted to playing both positions."

Morrison's first goal of the season came in the Boxing Day win over Sheffield United, when he scored the first goal in a 2-1 win.

The defender netted twice more, first in the FA Cup against Cardiff, and then the opener in the 5-1 hammering of Scunthorpe in February.

Sadly Morrison's season ended in disappointment, he picked up an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Preston, and wasn't fit enough to start either of the play-off semi final legs against Cardiff.
