The Chesterfield-born striker put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal on Tuesday, September 2 2008 having impressed for the Academy and Reserves in recent seasons.
The 17-year-old was an unused substitute in the Carling Cup defeat at Fulham but is held in high regard by the Foxes management team.
Manager Nigel Pearson said: "Craig is another young lad who has a bright future ahead of him.
"He is very level-headed and knows that he still has an enormous amount of work to do if he is to continue to progress in the game.
"But he deserves to have been rewarded for his attitude and application and we will be keeping a close eye on his development."
King went on to make his full Leicester City debut in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over Lincoln City at the Walkers Stadium as a second-half substitute.
