Lamey played in City's pre-season friendly against Sunderland, and played well enough at right back to secure a permanent deal.
The Dutch defender has been described by City's assistant manager Bruno Oliveira as "athletic and good on the ball."
Lamey began his career in the Dutch league, initially at RKC Waalwijk before moving to PSV Eindhoven in 2002. Lamey made 38 appearances for PSV but was also loaned out to AZ Alkmaar and FC Utrecht before moving to German side MSV Duisburg.
Lamey spent just one season with Duisburg before moving to Arminia Bielefield. Bielefield were relegated in Lamey's first season at the club, and after failing to win promotion at the first attempt Lamey left the club.
