The visit of Barcelona in 2003 was a dramatic one by usual pre-season standards as Phillip Cocu saw red in the first half for the visitors. Javier Saviola nevertheless scored the winner for Barça, who had Ronaldinho among their ranks for this encounter with Micky Adams' Foxes.

A Real Madrid side managed by José Mourinho and littered with international superstars helped Leicester City celebrate the renaming of King Power Stadium in 2011. Karim Benzema was among the goals in a 2-1 win over Sven-Göran Eriksson's Leicester for the Spanish side.

Premier League champions Leicester City came from behind in March 2017 – after losing the first leg 2-1 – to book their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League on an epic night on Filbert Way. Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton scored, alongside Kasper Schmeichel's penalty save.

A narrow defeat – Atlético Madrid (2017)
Jamie Vardy's second-half goal wasn't enough to prevent Leicester City from exiting Europe's platinum club competition at the last-eight stage, as Atlético Madrid saw out a 2-1 aggregate win. It ended 1-1 on the night, but a harsh penalty call in Madrid ultimately cost City.

Çağlar Söyüncü, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Pérez scored for Brendan Rodgers' men in a 3-2 success over Villarreal last summer, before Leicester would go on to lift the FA CommunitY Shield the following weekend. The game, though, will be remembered for Wesley Fofana's injury.
