The Nigerian international striker joined from Manchester City on a five-year contract on Wednesday, following the earlier acquisitions of Harry Maguire, Vicente Iborra and Eldin Jakupović.
From a 60-second match-winning salvo at Selhurst Park to an appearance against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, here’s eight facts about Kelechi Iheanacho…
Nigeria’s golden boy
In 2013, at the tender age of just 16, Iheanacho scored six goals in total during Nigeria's FIFA Under-17 World Cup title triumph in Abu Dhabi, winning the Golden Ball for the best player of the tournament.
Africa’s most promising
With three years between both occasions, Iheanacho has been named as Africa’s Most Promising Talent twice by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in 2013 and 2016 respectively.
An instant hit
The tenacious forward quickly became a popular figure at Manchester City – scoring within seconds of replacing Wilfried Bony in the 89th minute in a 1-0 success over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in September 2015.
Hat-trick hero
Iheanacho’s first career hat-trick came in a dominant 4-0 Emirates FA Cup victory at Aston Villa the following January, prompting boss Manuel Pellegrini to sing his "very, very talented" striker’s praises at full-time.
UCL final four
As the young striker’s stock in the game continued to rise at a rapid pace, he fulfilled a childhood dream to play in the UEFA Champions League at the semi-finals stage in a 0-0 first leg draw against Real Madrid in 2016.
Stats don’t lie
With 14 goals in 35 appearances on his maiden season in England, Iheanacho ended 2015/16 with the best goals-per-minute ratio of any player in the Premier League, averaging a goal every 93.9 minutes.
Among the elite
His superb form at Etihad Stadium did not go unnoticed and the Imo-born forward was nominated for FIFA’s Golden Boy award in 2016, although it was eventually won by Bayern Munich's Renato Sanches.
European success
Iheanacho continued to impress in the North West last term and his maiden Champions League strike came in a 4-0 win over German side Borussia Mönchengladbach, Leicester's final pre-season opponents this summer.
