- Harvey Barnes has praised manager Claude Puel for providing him with the opportunity to play in the Premier League
- Barnes has started two of City’s last three top-flight fixtures against Wolves and Man Utd
- The Foxes next face Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday (1:30pm GMT kick-off)
After making his first appearance of the 2018/19 season for City against the Saints, Barnes then started both fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United, and thanked Claude Puel for the opportunity to represent his boyhood club in England’s top flight.
“He’s been great, as he has with all the young lads,” said Barnes of the City manager. “The pitch time that he has given them has been great and I think that just helps each one of us to progress.
“I think it’s good for the Under-23s that are coming through now, knowing that, in the back of their head, that if they’re doing well and they impress the manager, they’ve got a good chance of getting in the team. I think it’s good going forward for the Football Club.”
Barnes' time at Darren Moore’s Baggies was his third loan spell of his career, having already enjoyed time at Milton Keynes Dons in 2016/17 and Barnsley in 2017/18.
“I think each time I’ve been on loan it has helped me as a person,” he continued. “Naturally as you get older, you just get more confident anyway. Coming back this year, I’m a different sort of player and I feel like I can definitely have an effect on the team.
My goal tally was good [at West Brom], and I think that’s put me in good confidence coming back and hopefully I can bring that form back here now.Harvey Barnes
“I think it was a great experience [at West Brom]. I can’t thank the Club enough for what they did for me. I think the main thing for me was getting game time there, which thankfully I did, and on top of it, I put in some good performances.
“My goal tally was good, and I think that’s put me in good confidence coming back and hopefully I can bring that form back here now.”
