Premier League Works Project Motivates Young People

LCFC Community Trust works with the Prince's Trust to help get people in Leicestershire, who are unsure where their life is taking them, to get back on the right track with ‘Get Started With Football’ – an initiative introduced to inspire 16 to 25-year-olds to focus on their next steps.

A dozen participants received a certificate of achievement, after a week of team building and skill development, to highlight the end of their Get Started With Football journey – which was presented by Premier League Works partners, the Prince's Trust.

The group spent a week together on an induction, where they gained the certificate through developing life skills, such as increasing confidence, communication skills and team work.

Before the awards were exchanged, pairs had to come up and discuss to the group, what they had learned, while demonstrating their improved life skills - with Filbert Fox also in attendance to support the celebration.

Both the LCFC Community Trust and the Prince's Trust will continue to support these young people onto their next steps, with advice on how to prepare for a job interview, being just one way of helping.

LCFC Community Trust’s Amelia Paynter – a Premier League Works Coordinator – reflected upon an eventful week for the young people on the course.

“The Get Started With Football scheme gives a great opportunity for young people to showcase progress through events over the week,” said Amelia.

“It offers a chance to share all the skills they have learnt and gained throughout week, while setting themselves goals for next steps in their lives.

“Ultimately, this gave them the chance to celebrate their achievements and it has been a week where the participants got plenty of great experience to help them on the next steps.”
