Birch's 39th Annual End of Season Run

Birch: End Of Season Run Will Be ‘Extra-Special’

Club Ambassador Alan ‘The Birch’ Birchenall says his 39th Annual End of Season Run will the most emotional one to date, with profits this year going to The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation.

- Supporters can donate in person in Sunday, or online and via text

Birch will complete his 90-minute run in honour of the Club’s late Chairman, Khun Vichai, on Sunday 12 May ahead of Leicester City’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea at King Power Stadium.

And by supporting The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation, which was renamed in 2018 following the tragic death of Khun Vichai, Birch believes there will an additional incentive for the Blue Army to make donations.

Birch said: “Probably in my time here, over four decades of being involved with the Football Club, they’re the best owners that we’ve ever had and after The Boss lost his life along with four others on that terrible evening, the new foundation has been built.

This year, it’s a little bit extra-special. I feel it, and I think the Blue Army feel as well that it is special. I know that they will show their respects for a great Chairman and the family as well.

“That’s what it will be for this year – it’ll be for The Boss, Vichai. I know that the Blue Army, they’ve been brilliant the last 38 years and I bet there’s still people that have been with us from day one.

“This year, it’s that little bit extra-special for The Boss. It’s a great opportunity to put their hands in their pockets once again for his foundation.”

Birch’s Annual End of Season Run has developed into a long-standing tradition for the Football Club and since its inauguration has raised nearly £2M for local charities.

Back The Birch!

Alan Birchenall will take part in his 39th End of Season Run ahead of the Chelsea game next month.

He said: “When I started 38 years ago, I had just finished playing, so that was the idea, it originated from that. Somebody asked me if I would raise a few bob for charity, I can’t even remember it’s that long ago!

“The Blue Army have helped raised nearly £2M for probably I think over about 120 local charities. This year, it’s a little bit extra-special. I feel it, and I think the Blue Army feel as well that it is special. I know that they will show their respects for a great Chairman and the family as well.”

On the day of Birch’s run, bucket collectors will be in position at King Power Stadium for supporters to donate, while you can also donate online or via text:
