Young Foxes Due In Hong Kong On Wednesday For Soccer Sevens Contest

A talented 10-man squad from Leicester City's Development Squad and Academy ranks will fly to Hong Kong on Tuesday evening for the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens.

City's youngsters, who have twice lifted the Main Cup prize, will arrive in Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon, local time, ahead of the weekend's two-day tournament. 

The Soccer Sevens is a frantic affair in usually blisteringly hot conditions, with each group stage fixture lasting just seven minutes per half, with a one-minute break for half-time.

City have been placed alongside Aston Villa, Kitchee, Singapore Cricket Cup in Group B, while they will play each side once on Saturday to determine their pathway in the competition.

City's Youngsters Head Out To Hong Kong

Leicester City's youngsters left England on Tuesday ready for the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens in Hong Kong later this week.

The top two teams in each group will proceed to the quarter-finals of the Main Cup knockout round. The third and fourth teams, meanwhile, will go into the Main Plate.

The Main Shield knockout competition, on the other hand, will be contested by the losing quarter-finalists in the Main Cup and will only consist two semi-finals and a final.

Over previous seasons, a host of the Club's current first team squad have participated in the tournament, including Academy graduates Harvey Barnes and Hamza Choudhury

Speaking ahead of the competition earlier this month, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who will captain the squad in Causeway Bay, said: "We're really excited ahead of the competition.

Leicester City Development Squad midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall says the Club's youngsters are hopeful of winning the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens next week.

"We know it'll be really hot out there with some intense games, but we're all really looking to the challenge. We want to go out there and bring back a trophy.

"I've missed the two last years with an injury so, personally, I'm hoping that it'll be a case of third time lucky!

"It'll be a lot of man-to-man marking and our concentration levels are going to be so important. We can't wait for it."
