Random Acts of Kindness Week

Secondary Schools Get Positive Through Random Acts Of Kindness

A group of Year 10 pupils studying at Wreake Valley Academy led a multiple-school-wide project to get other members around the Academy to pledge an act of kindness they are going to perform.

- LCFC Community Trust celebrated a ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ week, which started on Monday 24 June
- The idea, which is to pledge a random act of kindness, came to fruition by Year 10 pupils at Wreake Valley Academy
- Multiple schools across the county took part
- RAK is a part of Premier League Inspire project

The Roundhill Academy, as well as Wreake Valley, took part in the scheme, which is brought about to create a positive atmosphere around the school during the tough exam season.

Amelia Paynter, Inspire Coach with The Community Trust, discussed how the idea came into action.

“Young people wanted to change their outlook in school at the end of term,” she said. Especially with it being a busy time of the year, to create a positive culture.”

Random Acts of Kindness and The Community Trust’s work across Leicestershire’s Secondary Schools, falls under the newly-formed Premier League Inspire programme.

Over the course of the week, Inspire coaches have held stalls and encouraged school-wide participation – whilst displaying the pledges that has been made.

It was great to see young people taking initiative - seeing all years and teachers getting involved as well as another school.

Amelia explained how RAK came about and the impacts it has had.

“A group of girls and Wreake Valley Academy wanted to launch it,” she added. It was great to see young people taking initiative - seeing all years and teachers getting involved as well as another school.

“It has brought secondary pupils closer together.”

Inspire aims to identify different issues with students, while working with them to find a solution to improve their outlook on life and attitude in school.
