Foxes Return For Pre-Season

Several of Leicester City's first team players reported for pre-season testing and training on Monday morning.

Before then, however, Rodgers and his backroom team will assess the squad and develop their overall fitness over the course of a series of pre-season friendly fixtures.

Speaking to LCFC TV this week, Mendy, 27, discussed how the gruelling nature of summer training is made easier by the fact that the squad is back together.

"It’s not easy because we leave our family and friends and a good holiday, but we have to come back and I’m happy to come back and restart," the Frenchman said.

Afternoon Training Session At Belvoir Drive

Leicester City's first team squad were joined by players from the Development Squad and Academy on the outdoor pitches on their first day of pre-season training.

"It’s nice to see the lads, the coaches and the staff. It’s good to come back and ask them how their holidays were and now we are ready to come back and restart the training."

Over the next week, Mendy and his colleagues will be put through their paces before the Foxes head out to to Évian-les-Bains in France on Sunday 7 July for six days.

On the nature of training at this time of year, he added: "It's difficult! There are many tests, jump tests, running tests, back tests... This is the start and after it gets better.

"It’s better to be hard now, and after the season to be easy. We are happy to come back and to see the lads it’s a good job."
