Brendan Rodgers’ men returned to Belvoir Drive on Monday for training ahead of a six-day stay in Évian-les-Bains, France.

While catching up with LCFC TV earlier this week, the popular Premier League title-winner described the sense of optimism in the camp ahead of the summer.

“We’re very ambitious for the new season so we’ve got to work hard, put in a shift, and everybody’s buzzing,” Fuchs, 33, said.

Fuchs' Ambitious Approach

Leicester City's Christian Fuchs speaks to LCFC TV between pre-season testing and training at Belvoir Drive. Use 'CC' to access subtitles.

“You’ve caught me on one of the first days, which have been very, very intense, with our tests and now some ball work.

“Well, if you can call it ball work! The ball is not my best friend at the moment, but that’s just normal.

“It’s all about sorting out the feet at this stage of pre-season; getting going, getting moving, but it’s going to be a tough pre-season.”

Fuchs says everybody enjoyed the opportunity to recuperate from the 2018/19 campaign with their family over a 50-day break from daily duties.

Afternoon Training Session At Belvoir Drive

Leicester City's first team squad were joined by players from the Development Squad and Academy on the outdoor pitches on their first day of pre-season training.

However, the excitement of being back among his team-mates is something Fuchs has looked forward to and the Austrian's focus is now solely on the upcoming season.

“I had a very good summer,” he added. “I think it was seven weeks in the end. It was a good time to relax, come down and spend time with the family.

“But it also feels good to be back, see the boys and get started. The first two weeks [are] especially [important].

“[The coaches will] have other sessions planned. That already tells you what’s ahead of us, but we’re looking forward to it.”
