Starting with Tuesday's win and culminating with the visit of Atalanta next month, the Foxes faithful can follow six of the Club's pre-season friendlies live and for free on LCFC TV.

As part of a new feature on LCFC.com, the matchday commentary and punditry team - Elliott and Taggart - discuss the biggest talking points from City's maiden fixture of the summer schedule.

Ricardo-Pérez link could be 'massive'

Pérez celebrates scoring the opener with his new Foxes team-mates.

Gerry Taggart said: "Obviously some money has been spent on people like [Ayoze] Pérez and [James] Justin this summer," Taggart said following the victory in north Lincolnshire, courtesy of Perez's first goal since joining the Club.

"They both did well, but Pérez and Ricardo [Pereira] were the standout players for me. Down that right-hand side, they’ve got a good understanding going on straight away.

"That could be massive next season. We already know that Ricardo was brilliant for Leicester last season, but alongside a player like Pérez, it could be massive for Leicester."

Starting XI a sign of things to come?

Youri Tielemans

City are denied as Youri Tielemans' shot is blocked on the edge of the area at Scunthorpe.

Matt Elliott said: "Pérez was highly impressive in the first half and Ricardo featured massively as well. It was a highly competent display and the scoreline doesn’t really suggest the gulf that was between the two teams in that first half in particular, where Leicester were very good.

"I said before the game that Scunthorpe might be a big test for Leicester and they were to an extent, but it was a strong line-up, which isn't a million miles off what people will expect on the opening day.

"Certainly in some areas of the line-up, possibly on the right with Pérez and Ricardo working closely, it was exactly what it could be. It was a controlled performance from start to finish."

The importance of fitness-building

Albrighton looks to create an opening for Leicester before the break.

Gerry Taggart said: "It was a good run-out for all involved. The two most important things for Rodgers were the players getting minutes on the pitch and everyone being relatively injury-free.

"Apart from a slight knock for [Khanya] Leshabela, that was the case. They played some really good stuff as well, especially in the first half.

"The second half wasn’t quite as coherent, but you have to say that’s to be expected. On the whole, it’s been a good game of football, with a good tempo, and Scunthorpe played their part."

Brendan Rodgers

The manager thanks the Foxes faithful for their support in north Lincolnshire.

Gerry Taggart said: "Rodgers will be happy with some of the stuff he’s seen. [Youri] Tielemans will be happy to increase his fitness levels as well and you’ve still got players to come back.

"With the likes of [James] Maddison, [Hamza] Choudhury, [Demarai] Gray and [Harvey] Barnes coming back soon, it's an exciting time, especially considering how well Leicester played.

"With those younger lads coming back in over the coming weeks, it’s all looking good for Leicester City at the moment."
