Rodgers: Now We Narrow In Our Focus On Wolves

The Foxes concluded their summer schedule of fixtures unbeaten following last Friday's 2-1 victory over Serie A side Atalanta at King Power Stadium.

Ahead of his first full season as Leicester manager, Rodgers has been delighted with the players' application so far as City prepare to commence their 2019/20 campaign.

Before Sunday's clash against Wolves, Nuno Espírito Santo's men head to Armenia to tackle FC Pyunik in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Leicester, meanwhile, have a full week of preparation at the Club's Belvoir Drive training ground and Rodgers sees reasons to be optimistic following a productive pre-season.

Asked whether he is excited for the upcoming campaign, the Northern Irishman said: "Very much so. We’ve got everything at this stage out of it what we’d have liked.

"We’ve got another week’s work that will get us that bit more fitter arriving into next week. I’m really looking forward to the game [vs. Wolves].

"The whole focus has been on the preparation for us and working lots of elements of tactical and having a look at players I maybe haven’t seen a lot of.

"We can really narrow in our focus now knowing we’ve got Wolves next week. Like I say, the players have given everything and they’ve been superb over the course of pre-season."

New signing Ayoze Pérez and Jamie Vardy, the Club's all-time top Premier League goalscorer, netted for the Foxes in Friday's win - and Rodgers was enthused by his side's attacking play.

"Yes, Ayoze’s was a fantastic goal," he added. "You can just see his quality. He’s one of those players that when he comes inside, he can turn and he can play forward. He should have had two.

"He was in on goal on a one vs. one and I think he just got caught [in between] whether to dink the ‘keeper or play it through his legs, but he ends up scoring the most difficult one.

"Then Jamie’s, from quick thinking, Fuchsy [Christian Fuchs] taking the throw-in quickly and then he’s away. He actually did that last week away at Rotherham, Fuchsy.

"He created a goal for Kelechi [Iheanacho] because of his quick thinking. It was a very, very good night’s work for us.

"It was great to see the supporters here, which was really nice. It gives them a glimpse and hopefully they enjoyed watching the team."
