Praet, 25, joined the Foxes from Serie A side U.C. Sampdoria having been developed at the academy of King Power-owned Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

An expressive attacking midfielder who also has experience of being deployed defensively, the Belgium international is thrilled by the prospect of playing in England.

“I’m very, very excited,” he told LCFC TV after completing negotiations. “It was a last-minute call, but I’m really excited to be here and that I’ve signed for this big club.

“I always dreamt about playing in the Premier League and if a team is developing well like Leicester is now, I have interest in them, so it’s good and I was really happy.

Dennis signed a five-year contract with Leicester City on Thursday 8 August, 2019 and he will wear the No.26 shirt.

“It’s a perfect step for me. It’s a very nice project and I’m going to try to help the Club do as well as possible.”

Praet began his senior career with 34-time Belgian champions, R.S.C. Anderlecht, where he also starred alongside City No.8 Youri Tielemans.

After being reunited in Leicester, the Leuven-born midfielder expressed excitement, while also discussing the impact of Brendan Rodgers on his decision to join the Club.

He continued: “I met them [the team] already and they were very, very welcoming. I feel [they are] very, very warm, a very warm group, so I am happy to be here.

“I also met Youri already, who I know from Anderlecht, so it was a very warm welcome.

Praet was speaking to LCFC TV on Thursday afternoon.

"He’s a very good friend so I think he can help me with everything and I hope we can find a good connection on the field also – that’s also very important.”

On Rodgers, Praet added: “I spoke to him already a few times. It was a long day today, but I had a very good feeling with him.

“He’s a very nice guy and he knows a lot about football I’ve heard already so I am really excited to work with him.

“At this moment, I am thinking about the team and we want to get as high as possible and trying to get one of those European places would be perfect.”
