Jamie Vardy had City’s best opportunity of the game, as the City frontman attempted to flick Youri Tielemans’ dangerous cross into the back of the net, but couldn’t make the desired connection.

After the interval, Wolves opened the scoring through Leander Dendoncker, but the Belgium international’s strike was ruled out by VAR after replays showed Willy Boly handled the ball in the build-up to the goal.

Pérez told LCFC TV at the full-time whistle: “Well it was a tough game, they’re a difficult team to play against, playing five at the back, so it’s pretty tough.

Ricardo: We Have To Keep Growing

Ricardo Pereira spoke with LCFC TV after a tough battle with Wolves that finished 0-0 at King Power Stadium.

“They’ve been playing a couple of games in the Europa League as well in terms of fitness. It was a good fight, both teams could have won the game but in the end it’s one point. We have to take the positives and carry on.

“Both teams defended very well, very strong and [it was] goalless at the end. Both teams had a couple of chances, but it was a tough game for both teams and we need to take the positive from the point.”

Sampling King Power Stadium’s Premier League atmosphere for the first time, the Spaniard said: “[It was a] very, very good crowd, very enjoyable!

“It wasn’t my best day at the office but I’m happy to make my debut. My fitness is getting better and hopefully we will live great moments in this stadium.”

Obviously, you always have the mentality of winning games as much as we can. Sometimes when you cannot win, it’s important not to lose.

While City felt disappointed at not being able to open their campaign with a win, Pérez underlined the need for concentration ahead of next weekend’s trip to Chelsea.

He added: “Obviously, you always have the mentality of winning games as much as we can. Sometimes when you cannot win, it’s important not to lose.

“That’s what we did. [We will] just take the point as a positive and we carry on. It’s a long road, a long way until the end and we will be good.”
