Petty: PL2 As Strong As Ever This Year
- Leicester City's Development Squad host Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium on Friday evening (7pm BST kick-off)
- The Foxes have drawn with Everton and Blackburn Rovers so far this season
- Ben Petty says the division is as competitive as ever, judging by early matches in Premier League 2
- Striker George Hirst could play a part in Friday's fixture against the Seagulls, Petty says
The Foxes welcome Brighton & Hove Albion's Under-23s to King Power Stadium on Friday (7pm BST kick-off), following consecutive draws with champions Everton and Blackburn Rovers.
Ali Reghba got off the mark in 2019/20 by scoring the opener against Rovers on Monday night and Petty is excited by the options at City's disposal this season.
Striker George Hirst could play a role in Friday's fixture, following an injury over the summer, which merely adds to the wealth of options within the Club's Under-23s squad.
Ali Reghba Opens The Scoring For City's U23s
Irish forward Ali Reghba scores the first goal of the game in just the second minute.
"George will be back for Friday so hopefully he can work alongside Ade [Admiral Muskwe] and Ali [Reghba] this year," the Assistant Senior Development Phase Coach said.
"We’ve got three great striking options and we'll need it because I think this league is as strong as it’s ever been this season.
"We talked about that prior to us kicking off at Everton and Friday night will be another tough test.
"It’ll be great if we can get three points on the board. It’s fantastic for the players to experience playing at King Power Stadium, it does make a difference.
"There was a good crowd there on Monday (vs. Blackburn) and we’re delighted to come back on Friday night before we go back to Holmes Park."
The Development Squad's results have been identical so far this season to those secured by the Club's first team, but Petty is hoping for a maiden victory for both sides this time around.
"We’re mirroring the first team at the minute!" he added. "We drew the first game 0-0 and then it was 1-1 in the second, but hopefully we can both get off the mark this weekend."
Supporters can tune into live coverage on U23s Live, which will be broadcast on LCFC.com, Facebook and Twitter from 6:45pm BST on Friday.
