Slimani Nets & Silva Stars On Monaco Debuts

Islam Slimani scored and Adrien Silva delivered an assured display in midfield as both Leicester City stars made their 2019/20 debuts on loan at AS Monaco on Sunday.
More on this story...

- Six Leicester City players starred for their adopted loan clubs over the past weekend
- Islam Slimani netted on his AS Monaco debut, while Adrien Silva also started the clash with Nîmes
- Andy King made his first Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership appearance for Rangers at St. Mirren
- Josh Knight, Layton Ndukwu and Ryan Loft also appeared in the Sky Bet Football League

The Foxes duo will spend the remainder of the current campaign at Stade Louis II - and they got off to strong starts for Les Monégasques during a 2-2 home draw with Nîmes.

In the 39th minute, Aleksandr Golovin found Wissam Ben Yedder who, in turn, slid the ball into Slimani for the Algeria striker to convert into the bottom corner to put Monaco ahead.

Leonardo Jardim's men were in fact 2-0 up before half-time, as Ben Yedder doubled their advantage with seconds of the opening 45 minutes to go, but they were unable to hold onto the lead.

After the break, Romain Philippoteaux and Ahoueke Denkey struck for the visitors to secure a share of the spoils. While Slimani played the full 90, Silva was substituted with seven minutes to play.

It's a result which leaves Monaco in 19th place in the Ligue 1 standings after just three matches, with one point, while they next visit Strasbourg on Sunday (4pm BST kick-off).

Elsewhere, Academy graduate and Premier League winner Andy King was handed his Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership debut for Rangers by manager Steven Gerrard at St. Mirren on Sunday.

The Gers remain level on maximum points with rivals Celtic following a 1-0 success, courtesy of Borna Barišić's 59th minute strike at Paisley 2021 Stadium, with King being introduced in the 84th minute.

Defender Josh Knight, meanwhile, starred for over an hour in Peterborough United's Sky Bet League 1 outing at MK Dons on Saturday, a clash which resulted in a 4-0 success for the Posh.

Midfielder Andy King was a late substitute for Rangers last week.

Following last Tuesday's 2-0 win at Southend United, Peterborough currently lie in 10th place in the third tier of English football, while Knight has now made five appearances in all competitions.

Also in the Football League, Layton Ndukwu's Southend United were unfortunate to suffer a 4-3 defeat by Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park, while Ryan Loft featured for Carlisle United.

The League 2 outfit were able to end a three-game losing streak with a 2-2 draw at Salford City, with Loft coming on as a 67th-minute substitute for the Cumbrians, who sit 21st in the League 2 table.
