We Hit Our Unbeaten Target, Says Vardy

Leicester City successfully achieved their aim of heading into the first international break of 2019/20 without suffering defeat, according to Jamie Vardy.

- The Foxes won 3-1 to extend their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions
- Vardy scored twice, taking his Premier League tally to three for the season

The Foxes No.9 scored twice, alongside Youri Tielemans’ effort, to help seal a 3-1 victory on Filbert Way and retain their spot in the top four.

They are yet to be beaten this term, and Vardy says that is exactly what City were aiming for as a significant proportion of the squad heads away for international duty.

“We wanted to make sure that we went into the international break unbeaten and put a good performance in and I think today, with the performance, it definitely deserved the three points,” said Vardy.

Watch all the goals from King Power Stadium as the Foxes stretched their unbeaten run to four Premier League games with a success over the Cherries.

“We started off with it in pre-season, we wanted to obviously get that winning mentality but definitely the mentality of not losing.

“I think you can see with the performance we weren’t the best when we played Chelsea in the first half, but I think in the second half in that game we were showing our true colours.

“It was a bit scrappy obviously last week as well but managed to dig in and get the result and then today it’s just like you said. The momentum has taken us into it, and we’ve put in a full, solid performance.”

It’s not something that just happens naturally, we have to put the work in on the training field and like we say, take that training into the games and it gets performances like that.

Vardy has now scored three goals in his past two Premier League appearances, and hailed his team-mates for their chance creation against the Cherries.

“Obviously, you want to score in every single game but sometimes it’s just not to be, but as long as we keep creating the chance then hopefully there’s going to be a lot more goals to follow,” he added.

“It’s not something that just happens naturally, we have to put the work in on the training field and like we say, take that training into the games and it gets performances like that.”
