Three Foxes Find The Net For Adopted Clubs

Leicester City's Islam Slimani, Josh Knight and Ryan Loft all scored over the weekend in the latest round of fixtures for the Club's loan contingent.

Slimani followed up his debut goal for AS Monaco last weekend with a brace of strikes for the eight-time French Ligue 1 champions in a 2-2 draw at RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday.

The Algeria international, who helped the Desert Foxes win the Africa Cup of Nations this summer, netted the opener, before instantly replying to Kenny Lala's equaliser at Stade de la Meinau.

However, Adrien Thomasson scored for Strasbourg late on to seal a draw for the hosts on the French-German border, a result which leaves Monaco in 19th place in Ligue 1 after just four matches.

Foxes midfielder Adrien Silva, who like Slimani is on a season-long loan in France's top division, also starred for Leonardo Jardim's men before being substituted in the 65th minute.

Monaco's search for a first victory of the 2019/20 season will continue when they tackle Olympique de Marseille at Stade Louis II on Sunday 15 September (8pm BST kick-off).

Elsewhere, in Sky Bet League 1, Academy graduate Knight scored his maiden professional goal in Peterborough United's 3-0 win over nine-man Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. 

In Knight's sixth outing for the Posh, the 21-year-old netted in between two efforts from Marcus Maddison at ABAX Stadium to propel the home side up to seventh in the third tier, while Sunderland had both Luke O'Nien and Charlie Wyke sent off in the latter moments.

The Fleckney-based defender, who has also been deployed as a defensive midfielder, could make his seventh appearance in Tuesday's leasing.com Trophy clash at Northampton (7:30pm BST kick-off).

In the fourth tier of English football, meanwhile, forward Loft also registered on the scoresheet for the first time in senior football, converting the winner in a 1-0 success for Carlisle United at Scunthorpe United.

The 21-year-old, introduced in the second half at Glanford Park, pounced on the hour-mark for the Cumbrians to seal all three points, which was enough to lift them up to 18th place in League 2.

Exeter City are the next opponents for Carlisle on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off) as Steven Pressley's side go in search of consecutive victories for the first time of the 2019/20 season.

Shot-stopper Daniel Iversen, on the other hand, delivered another assured display in goal for in a 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers in League 1 at New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Ben Wiles appeared to have won it for the Millers in the 73rd minute, but a 95th-minute strike from Stefan Payne curtailed the hosts in a result which leaves them sat in 13th place in the table.

Rotherham next face Doncaster Rovers at Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday afternoon (12:30pm BST kick-off). Finally, winger Layton Ndukwu was a half-time substitute for Southend United, but the 20-year-old was unable to prevent his adopted side from slipping to a 3-0 loss to Rochdale at Roots Hall.

Ndukwu and his loan team-mates are next in leasing.com Trophy action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road (7:45pm BST kick-off).

Andy King did not feature in Sunday's 2-0 defeat by rivals Celtic for 10-man Rangers, who next take on Livingston on Saturday 14 September (3pm BST kick-off), while Sam Hughes may appear for the first time in Salford City's leasing.com Trophy tie against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening (7:45pm BST kick-off).
