Leicester City in the Community Wins Educational Excellence Award!

Leicester City in the Community’s continued hard work and dedication has been recognised by winning the 2019 Educational Excellence Award at the Niche Magazine Business Awards.

- Niche Magazine's awards have been running for five years, with the aim of recognising businesses and individuals who go above and beyond

The awards ceremony - held at The Athena in the city's cultural quarter - was hosted by bi-monthly Leicestershire publication, Niche Magazine. 

Dr. Nik Kotecha OBE, CEO of Morningside Pharmaceuticals, presented the award to LCitC’s nine representatives, of which Education Manager, Jamie Skinner proudly accepted the award. 

“The Niche Magazine Business award is fantastic recognition for the Education Team,” said Jamie, who detailed how the work which goes into the education aspect of LCitC impacts pupils across Leicestershire.

“We have worked tirelessly to develop comprehensive programmes that not only support schools, but the wider community, working in partnership with a number of organisations,” he continued.

“I am really proud of the team and I hope this raises the profile of our work across Leicestershire.”

Allison Tripney Leicester City in the Community

LCitC run two education programmes, Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Inspires, which focus on primary and secondary school intervention across the city and county.

Both are heavily supported by the Premier League and are two of three focused programmes for the 2019/20 season. Meanwhile, Allison Tripney, Head of Community, commented on the value of LCitC’s incredible staffing and work ethic. 

“The Education programmes, support and interventions have developed significantly over the past two seasons,” she said. “Leicester City in the Community have been fortunate to attract and recruit engaging, inspirational staff.

“I’m so pleased that their high-impacting work has been recognised by Niche and their prestigious awards!”

Niche presented 17 different awards on the night, which recognise the hard work of Leicester and Leicestershire’s business community.
