Beaglehole: Time To Build A Winning Mentality

- Steve Beaglehole has challenged the Under-23s to replicate that performance in the capital
- Matching the first team's winning mentality is something City's youngsters must work on, says Beaglehole

City's Under-23s side head to Emirates Stadium on Saturday to face second-place Arsenal, unbeaten in four games, in Premier League 2 Division 1 (12:30pm BST kick-off).

Ahead of the clash, Beaglehole, the Club's Senior Professional Development Phase Coach, has challenged the Foxes to replicate their performance in last month's 2-0 win at Wolves.

"It’s a hard league and there’s no easy game," he told LCFC TV following that success in Telford. "It gets harder every year. It doesn’t matter who you play. 

"If we maintain the standards, the work ethic, the desire, we showed at Wolves, we’ll be fine. We may need to polish things up, we need to keep the ball better, but we’ve had time."

Working in close coordination with the Club's first team set-up, Beaglehole hopes to see the Development Squad take inspiration from the Club's senior stars.

"We want to try and develop a winning mentality. We had that in abundance 18 months or so ago, and we’ve certainly got it with the first team manager, Brendan Rodgers, at the Club," he said.

"He’s big into that. The first team is showing a winning mentality and we’re trying to do exactly the same in this Under-23s team.

"We know it’s going to be difficult game at Arsenal, we certainly found it tough there last season, but on the back of the win at Wolves, we’re confident and we’ll be prepared."
