Having been beaten for the first time last weekend by Manchester United, City face another difficult challenge in the form of an encounter with Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit.

Affirming the Foxes do not get carried away whether they win, lose or draw, Ricardo knows his side have belief in their ability ahead of Saturday’s Filbert Way showdown.

“We want to bounce back,” said Ricardo. “After a defeat, it’s important to start playing again. We want to correct the loss we had and playing at home against a big club, a strong team, I think it’s a big challenge for us. We want to get back to victory.

“We know when we lose we’re not the worst team, and when we win, we’re not the best. It’s important to believe in our qualities and know our value and to bounce back to show what happened last week won’t happen again.”

Ricardo Pereira looks to create an opportunity from right-back against Manchester United.

After five Premier League games in 2019/20, Spurs sit level on points with City having recorded a convincing 4-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out.

“It’s going to be a difficult game,” Ricardo continued. “They have a lot of quality, they will have some chances and they will have the ball. We have to be compact and defend well. We have to be clinical.

“We have to play too, because we have quality and we have already shown against these types of teams. And we have to be aggressive, we cannot let them play comfortably.

“It’s important to see how we are, it’s important to compete against the best teams in the Premier League, and Tottenham is one of them. If we want to arrive at the end in a good position, we have to play and get points in these types of games.

If we play together, it will be easier. I think we will, and they won’t have that space and time to make the difference.

The Portugal international right-back knows togetherness will be a key asset for City, who could move second in the division should they emerge victorious on Saturday.

He added: “I think we have to be aggressive. We have to play together, we have to help each other, because it’s a lot easier if we play together, if we help our team-mates against these types of players.

“If we play together, it will be easier. I think we will, and they won’t have that space and time to make the difference.”
