Maddison capped a fine display at King Power Stadium with a brilliant winning goal after Ricardo Pereira had cancelled out Harry Kane’s opener.

The City No.10, who was voted Man of the Match by the Blue Army on the Club’s Twitter page, believes the Foxes were the better side during Saturday’s victory.

Maddison told LCFC TV: “Coming away from the game at Old Trafford and reflecting on it and talking about it as a group with the manager and the players, we stifled Manchester United and the early penalty didn’t go our way and there wasn’t many chances in the game, but I think we were the better team and that’s how we’ve got to see it now.

“I think we’ve got to expect to beat these teams. Leicester should be seen as a top team because we’ve got top players and a top manager so there’s no reason why we can’t go and beat these teams. It’s a great feeling to go and beat one of the so called ‘top six’.”

The 22-year-old’s first strike of the Premier League season sparked wild celebrations at King Power Stadium, and could well be a crucial one as the 2019/20 campaign continues to unfold.

He added: “I scored in the cup but there’s no better feeling than scoring in the Premier League, believe me!

“I just found myself in a bit of space and I’ve just been told in another interview I’ve had a few shots and not many have flown in so far.

“I think I’ve had one of the most shots in the Premier League but I’ve never really had a problem with goalscoring and getting in the position so it’s about staying cool now.

“I had a big chance at Stamford Bridge and had one at Old Trafford, so it’s nice to see one fly in the net.”
