The Foxes went into the interval two goals ahead, following a brace from George Hirst at Holmes Park, but the Blues came back to draw 2-2 through Faustino Anjorin and Thierno Ballo.

With the visitors' equaliser coming in the fifth minute of added time, Petty, the Club's Assistant Senior Professional Development Phase Coach, admitted that frustration was the prevalent emotion.

"Well, absolutely, and you’re going to have periods of the game – especially against the top clubs – where you don’t play so well," he told LCFC TV at full-time.

"We were obviously disappointed that we didn’t keep the ball better, but ultimately, you’ve got to do what you need to do to get the win.

We’ve got a strong squad in there and we’ve got high aspirations for them and that’s why we’ll keep continuing to make high demands of them.

"That’s learning, learning how to win, and we felt that today, we’ve let ourselves down, for sure."

Petty believes that City's youngsters have made a decent start to the 2019/20 overall, but it could have been better if wins, not draws, were secured over the past week.

Leicester's Under-23s had drawn with Liverpool in PL2 and Scunthorpe United in the Leasing.com Trophy preceding this clash with Chelsea.

"Overall, at the start of the season, we’ve been really pleased with the way it’s going," Petty continued in Whetstone.

"We’ve got a strong squad in there and we’ve got high aspirations for them and that’s why we’ll keep continuing to make high demands of them.

Goals: Leicester City U23s 2 Chelsea U23s 2

All the goals from a dramatic Premier League 2 Division 1 encounter between Leicester City and Chelsea at Holmes Park on Saturday.

"Picking points up here and there against the big clubs, that’s fine, but we want to win and we want to show these clubs that we’ve got players that can go into the first team.

"Players to get alongside Hamza [Choudhury] and Barnesy (Harvey Barnes) and Chilly (Ben Chilwell) and that’s ultimately our job, so we’ve got to keep driving these boys because there’s more to come.

"We’ve got a (friendly) game in the week for the lads that need a top up. We’ve got a great programme, we’ve got a good plan for the next two weeks before we play Tottenham.

"That’s going to be another similar game, playing against a technical team, so it gives us plenty of time to sort ourselves out."
