Jamie Vardy scored a stunning volley from distance as his brace sealed a 2-0 success over Liverpool en route to Leicester City's breathtaking 2015/16 Premier League title victory.

City, who had drawn three of their previous four fixtures, welcomed Jürgen Klopp's men to King Power Stadium in the first act of a critical three-pointed run of fixtures.

Defying pre-season odds of 5,000/1 to lift the English title, Claudio Ranieri's men started the campaign as favourites for relegation after securing a 'great escape' in 2014/15.

The success over Liverpool in February remains one of the highlights of the 2015/16 campaign.

However, Ranieri's Leicester side were stunning the football establishment and, when Liverpool came to town in February, they were sat atop of the Premier League standings after 23 games.

Considering their slight downturn in form over the weeks preceding the fixture - and the upcoming visits to Manchester City and Arsenal - it was imperative that City secured points.

A fraught encounter was settled in the second half as, firstly, Vardy latched onto a forward ball from Riyad Mahrez to loop the ball over Simon Mignolet, sparking delirious celebrations.

Claudio Ranieri passes on tactical messages to the players.

While the former Fleetwood Town striker's second effort wasn't as clean, a determined effort inside the 18-yard box was enough to seal all three points for the Foxes on Filbert Way.

Between this Liverpool victory and the end of the season, Leicester lost just once, eventually winning the Premier League - their first English top tier title -  by a margin of 10 points.
