Schmeichel Closes In On LCFC International Caps Landmark
- Kasper Schmeichel is one cap away from becoming the Club's joint-highest international appearance maker while at Leicester City
- The Danish goalkeeper is currently on 49 caps, one behind Wales midfielder Andy King's tally of 50
- Schmeichel's Denmark face Switzerland and Luxembourg over the coming international break
All 49 of Schmeichel's outings for Denmark have come during the Dane's eight-year spell at the Football Club to date, a passage of time which includes two FIFA World Cups.
Over the next fortnight, 14 Foxes are set to appear for their countries over the second international break of the 2019/20 season - and it could be a landmark few days for Schmeichel in particular.
Should the 32-year-old star in either fixture against Switzerland or Luxembourg, Schmeichel will go level with King, while appearances in both will put him top of the charts for international caps while with City.
Elsewhere, of the players still active in international football, Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is currently on 27 caps since he joined the Club from Genk in January 2017.
Premier League title winners Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy, on the other hand, may not have featured on the international stage since 2016 and 2018, but both nonetheless rank well on the table.
New additions include Belgium duo Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet, who have so far made a combined four appearances since signing permanently at King Power Stadium.
Defender Ricardo Pereira, meanwhile, could add to his tally of two caps while at Leicester after returning to Portugal's squad this month, following two outings at last summer's FIFA World Cup.
