On Thursday, pupils from Mowmacre Hill Primary School visited Filbert Way, where they had a two-hour emotional resilience workshop delivered by LCitC staff and 2Simple Wellbeing.

The workshop, which was followed by a calming yoga session, consisted of team challenges and, speaking afterwards, the pupils reflected on the emotions they experienced.

Mowmacre Hill pupil, Scarlet, discussed what she got out of the event at LCitC’s Community Hub: "This workshop has been quite helpful.

"I really enjoyed the yoga, I think I am going to do a bit more on that when I get home! It makes you feel more relaxed by the end of it."

2Simple Wellbeing deliver workshops across different schools, raising awareness of mental health, as well as raising money for Mind, a mental health charity in England and Wales.

Glenn Short, Deputy Primary Stars Coordinator at Leicester City in the Community, also outlined why City’s charitable arm are going to introduce mental health workshops across programmes.

These specialist workshops are set to be introduced in the New Year – working alongside 2Simple Wellbeing.

“Mental health is starting to grow on the curriculums at schools,” Glenn explained.

“What we are looking to try and do is create a six-week model whereby children get to learn about how to process and deal with their anger.

“We also talk about how they can build up their self esteem and how they can become more confident within themselves.”
