Beaglehole Outlines Under-23s' Training Emphasis

While City's youngsters have secured successive draws against Liverpool and Chelsea over recent weeks in Premier League 2 Division 1, they in fact led on both occasions at Holmes Park.

Looking ahead to Friday's trip to Tottenham Hotspur, following a fortnight-long break in competitive fixtures, Beaglehole emphasised the importance of Leicester improving their ability to see out results.  

"Certainly this year, we’ve seen that a lot of the big clubs have kept a lot of their players in their Under-23s group and are playing them in the EFL Trophy," Beaglehole told LCFC TV.

It is a learning situation for the group and we’ve talked a lot about it so that’s been the bulk of our work.

"So, it is a very, very strong league and, in the last few games, we’ve more than matched Liverpool. We’ve more than matched Chelsea and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

"We played really well but we threw away points because we didn’t manage the game until the end and, in respect of the Arsenal game, we didn’t start the second half like we started the first half."

However, Beaglehole is confident that City's Under-23s will improve and, after seeing several of them train with the first team last week, he is backing them to deliver a performance at Spurs.

Leicester City Development Squad fixtures will be available for free on LCFC TV throughout the 2019/20 season.

"It is a learning situation for the group and we’ve talked a lot about it so that’s been the bulk of our work," he continued, speaking at the Club's Belvoir Drive training ground.

"We've been looking at what we can improve on, moving players up, giving them exposure to the first team group.

"I think everybody is certainly enjoying it, as you’ve seen this morning. There’s a great spirit here."
