We Were Spot On, Says Vardy

Jamie Vardy says Leicester City delivered a faultless display as they stormed to a 9-0 Premier League victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Friday.

- The Foxes were ruthless in front of goal, as they recorded a 9-0 win on the south coast
- Vardy and Ayoze Pérez both netted trebles at St. Mary’s Stadium

Vardy, the scorer of one of two hat-tricks on the night, rounded off the win by completing his treble from the penalty spot in injury time.

The Foxes No.9 felt his side punished Southampton for the early dismissal of Ryan Bertrand, who was sent off for a challenge in the build-up to Ben Chilwell’s opener.

Goals: Southampton 0 Leicester City 9

All nine goals in one place, including two hat-tricks, from a record-breaking night for Leicester City against Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium.

Vardy told LCFC TV: “Performance-wise, we were spot on tonight, and we’ve caused them a lot of problems.

“We started the game really well, got in front, and then obviously they’ve gone down to 10 men and we’ve made the extra man count.”

Vardy revealed that Jonny Evans was urging the Foxes on to score a ninth goal in order to equal the Premier League record for a biggest-ever win, which was set by Manchester United in 1995.

“Jonny Evans kept reminding us every time the ball went in the net!” continued the No.9. “He’s obviously done his research and he said that winning by nine was a record.

“As soon as Madders (James Maddison) put the free-kick in, Jonny was complaining because he was celebrating!"
