Leicester City ended their wait for a victory at Brighton & Hove Albion's new AMEX Stadium in March 2018, although the 2-0 scoreline doesn't start to explain the drama involved.

The Foxes arrived on the south coast following an excellent 4-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, and their second successful away day was just as enjoyable.

After a goalless first half, Brighton had the chance to go ahead from the penalty spot after José Izquierdo was fouled in the area by Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi.

Kasper Schmeichel saved a decisive penalty to keep his side in the game.

However, Glenn Murray's 77th-minute spot-kick was saved superbly by Kasper Schmeichel, sparking Claude Puel's visitors into life in the latter moments in Falmer.

Just six minutes later, Leicester led as Ben Chilwell made ground on the left wing and his cross was nodded in by Vicente Iborra. Ndidi, though, was later sent off for a second yellow card.

Despite the difficulty of the task at hand, City excelled and they secured a vital victory in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Demarai Gray crossed for Jamie Vardy to score.

Speaking at full-time, Puel said: "I don't know if the result is fair but we take the three points and it's an important cushion for us.

"Brighton played well and they had quality so it was difficult for us in the first half after the international break. In the second half it was better and the penalty save from Kasper [Schmeichel] changed the situation. It gave us the belief to score both goals."

City: Schmeichel; Simpson, Maguire, Morgan (c), Chilwell; Mahrez (Fuchs 85'), Iborra, Ndidi, Albrighton (Gray 79'); Okazaki (Diabaté 56'), Vardy.

Subs not used: Jakupović, Dragović, Silva, Iheanacho.

Goals: Iborra 83', Vardy 90+6'.
