On the same evening as City's first team fixture against Watford at King Power Stadium, the Club's youngsters travel to Keepmoat Stadium to tackle Darren Moore's Sky Bet League 1 side.

Beaglehole spent 13 years at Doncaster, including a spell as senior manager, and Leicester's Senior Professional Development Phase Coach is excited by the prospect of returning there this week.

"I owe Doncaster Rovers a lot," he told LCFC TV. "The manager at the time was Billy Bremner and he gave me my chance in coaching at a young age and I’ll always be grateful for that.

"I had 13 years there, a period as manager, and we had some smashing youth team players there as well.

"When the first team was bottom of the Fourth Division, we were able to get to the final of the FA Youth Cup, so I have lots of fond memories.

"I’ve got a lot of respect for the club. When you work at this level, with the facilities and the excellent pitches we play on, you have to make sure you don’t forget that level."

Beaglehole also views the Round 2 clash as an opportunity for City's youngsters to showcase their ability after emerging from a group which included Sunderland, Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United.

"I’m really looking forward to it," he added. "I obviously hope we win, but more than that, I really want the lads to show what they’ve been working on over the last few weeks.

"It’s really important to me that they put on a good show and that they show a really good side like Doncaster that we know how to play football the right well.

"It’ll be a great test for our young players and they’ve done tremendously well already in the competition but can we do it again?

"I certainly believe in them and, after our recent results, we’ve got every reason to go up to Doncaster with the belief that we can perform well and get a result there."
