Chilwell & Maddison Support Rainbow Laces Campaign With Foxes Pride

As part of Leicester City’s continued support for Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign, Ben Chilwell and James Maddison met with Foxes Pride to learn about what it is like to be an LGBT football fan.

The duo met members of the Club’s LGBT supporter group at King Power Stadium to find out more about them and to discuss the issues they face and the progress that has been made since their formation in 2014.

They also handed over match-worn football boots donated by other members of the squad to help with the group’s fundraising efforts.

Foxes Pride work with LCFC to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football and to promote the welfare of the Club’s LGBT supporters by ensuring that King Power Stadium is a welcoming and friendly environment for all.

Graeme Smith, Chair of Foxes Pride, said: “What we’re starting to see now, and Ben and James are examples of that, is players are beginning to get involved.

“The absolute key is helping people realise that you don’t have to be gay to stand up for LGBT people.”

The Club supported Rainbow Laces at last Wednesday night’s game at home to Watford and at yesterday’s fixture at Aston Villa.

Chilwell & Maddison Support Rainbow Laces Campaign With Foxes Pride

Ben Chilwell and James Maddison both supported the Stonewall campaign over the last two gameweeks by wearing rainbow laces.

The Rainbow Laces campaign seeks to inspire sports fans and participants, educate everyone about what it is like to be LGBT in sport and encourage people to take action by raising funds for LGBT equality or calling for change against the discrimination LGBT people face in sport.

Paul, member of Foxes Pride, said: “It was phenomenal. I genuinely don’t remember feeling like this would have happened five or ten years ago, so it’s fantastic to see a real sense of buzz around.”

Leicester City are committed to making football a game for everyone and do not tolerate homophobic or discriminatory language.

If you hear any such language at King Power Stadium during a game, contact a steward or report it by text to 60066 (start your message with the word FOXES).

On non-matchdays, email lcfchelp@lcfc.co.uk or call 0344 815 5000 (Option 4).
