Foxes Left Frustrated By Norwich

Leicester City's unbeaten run stretched to 10 games in all competitions after being held to a 1-1 Premier League draw at King Power Stadium by Norwich City on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers stuck with the same starting XI and substitutes that earned a 4-1 victory at Aston Villa last weekend, with Kelechi Iheanacho the first to test Tim Krul, who made a comfortable save on six minutes.

Belgium international Youri Tielemans then hit the post via a Krul save just before the quarter-hour mark, while at the other end, Teemu Pukki fired wide of the mark from close range for Norwich.

However, Pukki did find the net shortly after, as he sprinted onto Emiliano Buendía’s through-ball before slotting into the bottom corner of the net for his ninth Premier League goal of 2019/20.

But City, who had won eight-successive Premier League games heading into the clash, didn’t take long to restore parity. Vardy flicked James Maddison’s corner towards goal and Krul palmed the ball into the back of his own net for 1-1.

After the interval, Vardy went close to scoring his 17th league goal of 2019/20, but after rounding Krul, he couldn’t direct his strike on target from a tight angle, while the Norwich goalkeeper had to be alert just moments later to save from the City No.9.

Turkey international centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü then met Maddison’s corner from the right, only for Krul to collect the ball after midfielder Todd Cantwell had missed his clearance on the line.

The Foxes maintained their push for a winning goal, as Vardy then hooked a strike towards goal that Krul was equal to, while a well-timed tackle from Söyüncü prevented Pukki from netting his second of the game.

With three minutes to play, Ricardo came out on top in a similar situation as he poked the ball away from Pukki before the Finland frontman could get his shot off, and while Ben Godfrey first miscued his clearance from a Ben Chilwell cross in injury time, he was then able to get rid of the danger at the second attempt before a Foxes player could pounce on the loose ball.

The Foxes celebrate their levelling goal in the first half.

After falling behind at King Power Stadium through Teemu Pukki’s neat finish, the Foxes required an immediate equaliser and unsurprisingly, Jamie Vardy played a major role in it.

Attacking midfielder James Maddison’s corner was flicked towards goal by the City No.9 before Tim Krul turned the ball into his own net for the leveller.

Matt Elliott told LCFC Radio at the full-time whistle: “Wilfred Ndidi. It was one of those games where no one really stood out. There wasn’t much flamboyance or creativity, there was a lot of huffing and puffing. Ndidi was probably as good as anyone, I would say.”
