Having spent 16 years and made over 100 senior appearances for Villa, Albrighton joined City in 2014 and won the Premier League title two years later.

A scorer of some of memorable strikes for the Foxes, including their first-ever UEFA Champions League goal, Albrighton has become a firm favourite of the Blue Army.

Ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Semi-Final first leg tie versus his former side, the 30-year-old says he is hoping City can add to the silverware they claimed four seasons ago.

“It would be massive,” Albrighton told CITY Matchday Magazine. “I remember the team that last won it in 2000 and you still see some of the players involved around the place now, they’re legends of the Club – and rightly so.

Marc Albrighton has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Leicester City this campaign.

“What we’ve achieved in recent years is great, but we want to follow it up and winning this competition is the perfect way to do that.

“You enter these competitions to go all the way, not just to make up the numbers. We have a real shot at it now and a good chance to go down in Leicester history having not just won the Premier League, but the League Cup also.”

Brendan Rodgers’ men face Villa over two legs this month, while the other semi-final tie sees Manchester United take on Manchester City.

Villa will be a tough test; they got a good result against Burnley. They’ve changed their formation a bit, so they’ll be looking to implement that at King Power Stadium.

“Our target is to win the competition, not just get to the final,” Albrighton added. “If we do make it past Aston Villa, then we’ll have to beat one of the Manchester clubs in order to do that.

“Villa will be a tough test; they got a good result against Burnley. They’ve changed their formation a bit, so they’ll be looking to implement that at King Power Stadium.

“It’s going to be difficult for us to break them down, but once we do, I think we’ve got a great chance.”

CITY Matchday Magazine will be available for £3 from programme vendors outside King Power Stadium and the Foxes Fanstore on Wednesday.
