As Good As I've Seen City's Under-23s Play, Says Beaglehole

The Leicester City Development Squad's control during a 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, particularly in the first half, pleased coach Steve Beaglehole on Monday.

- Josh Eppiah scored the only goal of the goal at the South Coast club's training ground
- Beaglehole paid tribute to the Under-23s' dominance over the clash, especially in the first period
- The Club's Senior Professional Development Phase Coach also discussed George Thomas' recent loan move

Josh Eppiah's 10th-minute strike was ultimately enough to secure a 12th win in 13 matches for the Club's Under-23s side despite torrid rainfall at the Amex Elite Football Performance Centre.

It was a result which propelled the Foxes up to second in Premier League 2 Division 1, while they also remain in the Leasing.com Trophy and the Premier League International Cup.

Reflecting on the clash, the Senior Professional Development Phase coach told LCFC TV: "I think it was a really terrific win. We managed the pitch really well and the conditions in the first half.

"We scored a really good goal from a high press. We dominated the first half and it was as good as I’ve seen us play.

Beaglehole Delighted With Victory

Steve Beagelhole talks to LCFC TV after the Development Squad's 1-0 victory over Brighton...

"We controlled the game, the passing was good, and and we created other chances. We should probably have gone in more than one goal up.

"You know when it’s only one goal, it’s a fine line. They came out and changed their shape a little bit, we changed to try and get a grip in the midfield and it became a really scrappy game.

"You could say it was a fight, but that’s the pleasing side for me. We talk about the development of the players, they showed real determination to keep that winning streak.

"Right at the end, Viktor [Johansson], who’d had nothing to do really, pulls off a hell of a save. That would have been cruel on the boys if they’d conceded that."

As a captain, [Thomas has] grown in statue. I think we’ve found a position for him. He’s one of the controllers in there and, on the back of that, it’s been noticed.

Beaglehole also took a moment to discuss an exciting loan move for midfielder George Thomas, who recently agreed to play for Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag until the end of the season.

"He’s been great for us," he continued. "As a captain, he’s grown in statue. I think we’ve found a position for him. He’s one of the controllers in there and, on the back of that, it’s been noticed.

"Alan Pardew (Den Haag manager), I’m sure, has had people out looking out for players. That’s a great tribute to George that they’ve wanted him.

"Chris Powell, of course, is there. He’s a very, very good coach, we know him well, so he’s gone to a really good club and it’s a great move for him.

"He’s helped the team this year and the team helped him to get that move and we wish him all the best."
