Mason has verbal dyspraxia but is one student who has exceeded through the weekly PE sessions at the Glenfield school.

“I like the training we do,” said Mason. “I try my best to help people.”

As a reward for good behaviour and positive engagement through sessions, Mason was invited to King Power Stadium to flag bear.

Mason is a huge Leicester City fan and regularly attends matches with his dad. On the day, he got to see his idol Kasper Schmeichel, while also walking out onto the King Power Stadium pitch.

Short explained the work he does with Mason: “I have worked with Mason for about two years now.

You can see he is confident; he wants to get involved and work as a team. It doesn’t have to be a barrier like it would be in the classroom, you can really see the difference with him.

“It has been really exciting – every week we have been learning matches and learning the rules of football.

“Mason does a fantastic job of helping people, he gets involved in sessions really well.”

LCitC works especially closely with the Speech and Languages unit at the primary school.

Stephanie Bennetts, a Speech and Language Teacher, with Glenfield Primary discussed how Mason continues to progress.

“Glenn includes him like everybody else,” she said. “You can see he is confident; he wants to get involved and work as a team.

“It doesn’t have to be a barrier like it would be in the classroom, you can really see the difference with him.”
