Following a 1-0 defeat by Newport County in the Leasing.com Trophy Quarter-Finals, City's youngsters have just the league to focus on, with just six matches to play until the end of the season.

Despite facing a side who are 10th in the table, Beaglehole has called for the Club's Under-23s to exhibit their very best qualities, such is the quality of Premier League 2.

"I always say it, but it's true that every game in this Under-23s league is difficult because you're playing against players who will one day play in the Premier League," he said.

We're trying to show that winning mentality that we’ve got at the Football Club, which the gaffer talks about with the first team, all the way through Leicester City.

"We had a great win against Spurs earlier on in the season after a tight first half but we got two good goals and deserved to win that game.

"Make no mistake, where we are in the league or where they are, it makes no difference because the quality of this league is so high that you have to perform in every game.

"If our players are going to be top players and play at the highest level, then they have to perform in games, like they did at Newport, although we didn't get the win."

While pleased with the performance at Newport, Beaglehole wants to see Leicester get back to winning ways as soon as possible, restoring form which saw them lose just three times in 16 outings.

"It’s difficult to play, the way it was hooked on and hooked on, and they have to concentrate, but I was pleased with the way they got in down in the second half and played," he added.

"We created chances, took the game to them, and they were clinging on at the end, they really were.

"We're trying to show that winning mentality that we’ve got at the Football Club, which the gaffer talks about with the first team, all the way through Leicester City.

"We know how important it is to win games and that’s what it’s been about because we have won games."
