LCFC Statement: Fixtures Suspended

Premier League, FA, EFL and WSL fixtures at all age groups are included in the postponement. This affects, Leicester City’s Premier League trip to Watford on Saturday 14 March and the home FA Cup Quarter-Final with Chelsea on Saturday 21 March. Leicester City Women’s FA Cup tie against Manchester City on Sunday 15 March will also be postponed, along with all PL2 and Academy fixtures.

It is the Premier League’s intention to return on the weekend of 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time. Further information regarding the affected fixtures will be relayed in due course.

Activity at Leicester City’s Belvoir Drive Training Facility will be reduced in the coming weeks, in light of the suspension.

This will apply to players at all levels, whose training programmes will be adjusted to ensure the appropriate level of rest and preparation ahead of the intended resumption of fixtures from 4 April.

Belvoir Drive and King Power Stadium remain fully operational and will continue to be used by support and administration staff. The Club continues to monitor the on-going situation and will work with our staff and partners to support them and maintain services in the challenging weeks and months ahead.

Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: “Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

“In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.”

Despite the challenges, it is the Premier League’s aim to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so.
