Pupils from four Leicestershire schools took part in science-related activities at King Power Stadium.

These included creating their own 'Vardyquakes' with a seismometer, taking part in an earthquake-proof engineering challenge and using virtual Reality to build rockets.

The event was supported by the Primary Science Teaching Trust, as part of the City Science Stars project, who also provided teaching resources for the schools that attended.

Dr Alex Evans, STEM and Outdoor Learning Coordinator for Leicester City in the Community, said: “As well as celebrating British Science Week, we wanted to highlight some of the amazing contributions to science and nature that have come from right here in Leicester.

The feedback from staff and students has been great, and we hope to offer another British Science Week celebration next year!

“The activities included a forensic science escape room, nature painting, engineering challenges and a dinosaur dig.

“Thanks to support from the Primary Science Teaching Trust and the National Space Centre, we have been able to offer both the pupils and teachers some educational goodies to take home with them,” he added.

“The feedback from staff and students has been great, and we hope to offer another British Science Week celebration next year!”
