The Transfer Record: Ahmed Musa
Born in the large city of Jos in central Nigeria, 16-year-old Musa signed his first professional contract at Juth FC, a team in his homeland's National League
A year later, Ahmed played for Kano Pillars in northern Nigeria. His 18 goals that season was a Nigerian Premier League scoring record.
His next move, a year later, was to the Dutch Eridivisie side VVV Venlo, where he made his debut on his 18th birthday.
During his two years in Holland, Musa was in the Nigeria side which won the West African Football Union Cup.
He also represented Nigeria in the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Columbia. In January 2012, though, he moved to CSKA Moscow for an undisclosed fee.
In his four seasons in Moscow, he was a key player and regular scorer in the CSKA side which won three Russian Premier League titles, two Russian Super Cups and the Russian Cup.
He was also in the Nigeria side which lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, represented his country in 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, was selected for Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup squad, and was in the 2014 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Team of the Year.
After joining the Foxes in 2016, Musa enjoyed a promising start, when he scored twice against FC Barcelona in the International Champions Cup at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
However, he only made seven Premier League starts, three in the UEFA Champions League, and one FA Cup appearance from the beginning in his first season.
His two goals in the top flight for the Club came during the same week in October 2016, first netting in a 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace, before also sealing a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
Later that season, he scored a brace in a 2-1 FA Cup success over Everton at Goodison Park, netting twice in the space of six minutes.
The following campaign, meanwhile, he starred on only one occasion in the Premier League before being loaned back to CSKA Moscow in January 2018.
He played for Nigeria in the 2018 World Cup - scoring a superb double against Iceland in the group stages - before leaving Leicester in August 2018 for his present Club, Al Nassr, with whom he won both the Saudi League and Super Cup in 2019.
Last summer, he represented Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations. His current total of 91 international caps places him third in the list of most appearances for his country.
