- Leicester City drew 0-0 with Brighton & Hove Albion at King Power Stadium on Tuesday
- City On The Sofa will be broadcast throughout all of City's remaining Premier League matches
- Steve Walsh, Gerry Taggart and Tony Cottee starred alongside Dan Bates on Tuesday's episode
- Talking points included City's form, the need for perspective and the Emirates FA Cup
Kasper Schmeichel saved an early penalty from Seagulls forward Neal Maupay before the Foxes gradually grew into the game and finished strongly, but couldn't find a winner in the latter moments.
City On The Sofa is a new show from LCFC TV allowing the Blue Army to watch along during Premier League matchdays in the company of some of the Club's most popular former players.
Speaking at full-time, Steve Walsh, Gerry Taggart and Tony Cottee reflected on the performance and City's standing in the top-flight standings, before looking ahead to Sunday's Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Final against Chelsea on Filbert Way this Sunday (4pm BST kick-off).
A point closer
The midfielder prepares to take a corner for the Foxes.
Gerry Taggart said: “It’s a point closer to achieving their objectives. Say what you like, but there’s a lot of teams that have to play a lot of football. Almost of all of them will have games like today. Momentum is still swinging Leicester’s way. They’re nine points clear of fifth and have a healthy goal difference. The pressure’s on the teams below. The quality of these players will come through.”
Result could be crucial
The young Foxes winger gets down the flanks in pursuit of a winner.
Tony Cottee said: “Liverpool have been on a different planet this season, but for most of the other teams, you don’t go through a 38-game season playing well in every game. A season comes with ups and downs and players’ form goes up and down too. The final ball let Leicester down tonight, but any team who wants to achieve things has to make sure, if they’re not playing at their best: don’t lose the game. One point can be crucial.”
A lot to play for
Justin collects a high ball and looks to get on the front foot.
Steve Walsh said: “We’ve got a 30+ goal difference and we’ve scored 59 goals so when you put it into context, Leicester City deserve to be where they are. Everybody hopes we can achieve what we want to this season, but it’s been a terrific season. There’s still so much to play for. There’s the league position, the FA Cup, Jamie Vardy’s pursuit of a 100th goal. They’ve been better than a lot of the teams in that upper section of the league this year.”
City will improve
The goalkeeper made a crucial penalty save early on at King Power Stadium.
Gerry Taggart said: “I’m sure Leicester aren’t the only team who will take time and, come the next game, they’ll improve because of this game. There’s no reason to be negative. Yes, they haven’t won yet, since the restart, but it’s two points on the board. Points on the board are more important than games in hand. Anyone who’s played the game will tell you that.”
Ben Chilwell & Ricardo Pereira
City's full-backs celebrate Ben Chilwell's effort in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea earlier this season.
Steve Walsh said: “It’s a chance to get away from league issues and what an opportunity it is to – to reach an FA Cup Semi-Final. I have a good feeling about the game and I’m confident we can beat Chelsea. It says a lot about how far Leicester City has come that there’s some alarm about this result. We’ve got a level-headed manager and it’ll come good.”
All about perspective
Rodgers watches on from the sidelines at King Power Stadium.
Tony Cottee said: “It would be great for Leicester City to reach the last-four of the FA Cup. I’m sure most of the players, though, would say the priority is the league. It’s a great chance for the players to get another 90 minutes under their belt. The performances will come with the more football they play. They’re still unbeaten in these two games and the wins will follow as their fitness grows. Not many of the other games have been thrillers either.”
