Söyüncü: We Are Doing Everything For The Fans

Leicester City and Turkey centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü has spoken of the pride he feels to have forged such a strong relationship with the Club's supporters.

- The Turkey international believes the Foxes will get back to winning ways swiftly
- Söyüncü also thanks the Blue Army for their support of him throughout 2019/20

Since joining the Foxes in 2018, but especially this term, Söyüncü has become a cult figure among the Blue Army, largely owing to his excellent performances in defence.

The 24-year-old has missed just one of City's 31 Premier League matches this season and has earned a reputation as one of the most talented and feared defenders in English football.

On Wednesday, Leicester continue their top-flight campaign with a trip to face Everton at Goodison Park, behind closed doors, and Söyüncü says he and his team-mates are determined to win.

"There are no easy games in the Premier League," he said this week. "We know that we can play well because we have a very good team, with young, talented players, and older experienced ones.

"Everyone, including the management, is concentrating on completing the job and I believe we will do very well now."

I really enjoy and appreciate their support. We are doing our best to please them, to give them the victories they deserve.

The bond which exists between Söyüncü and the Foxes faithful has continued to grow over the 2019/20 campaign - also stretching to his homeland in Turkey - a source of pride for the former Freiburg man.

"It makes me very happy as a player," Söyüncü said. "I don’t think their love and support is only aimed at me. All my mates also feel their support.

"I really enjoy and appreciate their support. We are doing our best to please them, to give them the victories they deserve, but at the moment we are playing in an empty stadium.

"It is very bizarre. When you make a tackle or something, you usually hear their noise in the stadium, but they are not there at the moment, so it is strange without them.

"I’m representing my country in the Premier League and it makes me very, very happy. There are lots of Turkish supporters following Leicester City and I believe the Club deserves this.

Friday Fives: Çağlar Söyüncü

As part of a new feature on LCFC TV, Friday Fives takes a look at some of our stars' best moments so far in 2019/20, beginning with Çağlar Söyüncü.

"I hope there will be more support from the Turkish fans. We play very good football this year and I believe we are enjoyable to watch, so let’s hope this continues."

Finally, Söyüncü also reserved praise for Brendan Rodgers and accredited the Northern Irishman's management style with the Foxes' excellent showing so far in the Premier League this term.

Leicester currently sit third in the top-flight standings and reached both the semi-finals and quarter-finals in Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup respectively.

However, the personal touch applied by Rodgers in his handling with the Club's young players has particularly struck Söyüncü, who says the 47-year-old is having a positive impact on his career.

"From the first day that he arrived, he added so many positive things to the Club, especially to the young players," he continued.

"We talk all the time, and he’s been very helpful to me personally as well.

"He’s got a great career behind him and I’m trying to do everything he asks. I’m doing my best to do that."
