Croatia Under-21s international Filip Benković made his second successive appearance for Bristol City in their 2-1 success over Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday.

The managerless Robins went ahead through Famara Diedhiou at Ashton Gate before Jamie Paterson doubled their lead, reducing Jordy de Wijs' goal to a mere consolation for the Tigers.

That result leaves Bristol City sitting in 12th place in the second-tier standings, six points adrift of Cardiff City, who occupy the final play-off place with just four games still to play.

A trip to tackle Neil Warnock's 18th-placed Middlesbrough on Saturday is next up for the south west outfit before facing Stoke City (H), Swansea City (A) and Preston North End (H).

Elsewhere in the Championship, Andy King, who will leave the Club at the end of 2019/20 after 16 years of magnificent service, was also in action on Tuesday for Huddersfield Town.

The iconic Foxes midfielder, a winner of titles in the Premier League, Championship and League 1 for City, starred for 89 minutes of the Terriers' 0-0 stalemate at Reading.

Benković's Bristol City secured their 16th win of the season over Hull.

Danny Cowley's men are now three points clear of the relegation zone and nearly sealed victory at Madejski Stadium with Alex Pritchard going close for the visitors.

Huddersfield next come up against Luton Town at John Smith's Stadium on Friday ahead of a final run-in which includes Sheffield Wednesday (A), West Bromwich Albion (H) and Millwall (A).

In Serie A, winger Rachid Ghezzal emerged from the bench for Fiorentina in a 0-0 draw with Cagliari, leaving the Florence club 13th in Italian football's top division.

The Algerian previously started La Viola's last two games, losses to Lazio and Sassuolo, before replacing Federico Chiesa for Giuseppe Iachini's side at Artemio Franchi on Wednesday.

There are seven games yet to play for Fiorentina, starting with Verona at home on Sunday, while other fixtures include Inter Milan (H) and Roma (A).

Kamal Sowah could feature for Belgian side OH Leuven in their rescheduled home promotion play-off second leg tie against Beerschot in August. They lost the first leg 1-0 in March.
